Cristiano Ronaldo at Globe Soccer Awards

Cristiano Ronaldo turned heads at the prestigious Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, voicing his opinions on football’s hottest topics. From supporting Vinicius Jr. for the Ballon d’Or to claiming the Saudi Pro League surpasses Ligue 1, the football icon’s statements stirred debates across the global football community.

Saudi Pro League vs. Ligue 1: Ronaldo’s Strong Stance

During his acceptance speech for the Best Player in the Middle East award, Ronaldo declared the Saudi Pro League superior to France’s Ligue 1.

“Saudi League is better than Ligue 1, of course,” Ronaldo said. “Try to sprint in 38, 39, 40-degree weather and see. France only has PSG. The rest are finished.”

The Portuguese superstar, currently playing for Al-Nassr, highlighted the league’s challenges, emphasizing the competitive climate as a factor distinguishing it from Ligue 1, which he criticized for its reliance on Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

Backing Ruben Amorim Amid Manchester United’s Struggles

Ronaldo also expressed his support for Manchester United’s new coach, Ruben Amorim, amid a turbulent start to his tenure. Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag but has faced challenges, with the team hovering above the Premier League relegation zone.

“(Amorim) did a fantastic job in Portugal with my (club) Sporting,” said Ronaldo. “But the Premier League is a different beast, the most competitive league in the world.”

Despite the rocky start, Ronaldo remains optimistic:

“The storm will finish, and the sun will rise.”

For Ronaldo, the club’s issues transcend coaching:

“The problem is not the coaches. It’s like an aquarium; if the fish inside is sick, fixing the fish won’t help if the aquarium itself remains problematic.”

Vinicius Jr. Deserved the Ballon d’Or, Says Ronaldo

Ronaldo didn’t shy away from controversy when addressing the Ballon d’Or results. He passionately argued that Vinicius Jr. should have won the award, describing the decision to honor Spain’s Rodri as unjust.

“Vinicius deserved the Ballon d’Or. It was unfair (to lose it). I say it in front of everyone.”

Vinicius, who has dazzled fans with his performances for Real Madrid, was recently named FIFA’s Best Men’s Player of the Year, further cementing his status as a global superstar.

Ronaldo’s Legacy Continues to Shine

At 39, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to dominate headlines, both on and off the field. From his bold comparisons between leagues to standing by fellow players and coaches, Ronaldo’s voice remains as influential as ever in the world of football.
